Batteries play a pivotal role in the sustainable development of mankind. They are dangerous goods and need to go through a series of safety tests before use. In many cases, the battery will operate in a high temperature environment. To ensure the safety of operation, different countries and regions have different standards for battery heat resistance testing. Sanwood battery cell oven series SM-G-DA specifically for battery heat resistance testing can meet battery heat resistance tests of different standards.

So what about the different in test processing of battery safety test standard?

IEC 62660-2 Reliability and abuse test of lithium battery cells for electric vehicles

High temperature heat resistance test

A. Adjust the state of charge for BEV application batteries to 100%, and HEV application batteries to 80%;

B. After the battery is stable at room temperature, put it into a convection barn with circulating air. The barn temperature is required to be raised to +130 degrees Celsius (± 2 degrees) from 5 degrees Celsius per minute. The test time is 30 minutes until the end of the test.

When the test is in progress, it is recommended to measure the battery temperature, voltage and temperature of the barn.  We recommend Sanwood SM-G-DA series high temperature drying oven +25C to +200C temperature controllable.

IEC 60086-4 Primary Battery Part 4: Safety Standard for Lithium Battery

Thermal abuse test (simulating battery under extreme high temperature environment)

The heating rate is 5 degrees per minute, until +130C, stay for ten minutes.

Sanwood battery oven SM-G-DA series can achieve the temperature control range and the heating rate requirement.

Safety requirements and test methods in normal use

High temperature performance

Requirements: When used under high temperature conditions, the internal components of the battery should not be exposed;

The fully charged battery is placed at a moderately high temperature to test its integrity. The temperature range is 70±2°C for 7 hours, and then it is taken out and placed at room temperature. The battery shell has no physical deformation due to the exposure of internal components.

We recommend SM-G-DA series high temperature oven.

Safety requirements and test methods under possible misoperation

Overheating performance: no fire or explosion under extreme high temperature

The temperature of the oven rises to 130C at a rate of 5C per minute and keeps it for 10 minutes.

[Recommend SM-G-DA series high temperature baking room +25C...+200C]

UL 2054

1. Heating test

The temperature of the oven is increased to 150C at a speed of 5C±2C and kept for 10 minutes;

2. Thermal cycle test

30min +25C> +70C=4H;

30min +70C> +20C=2H

30min +20C> +40C=4H

30min +40C> +20C.

Repeat the cycle 9 times. After the 10th cycle, the battery is left for 7 days for inspection.

Sanwood battery drying oven SM-G-DA series can carry out both above test.

IEEE 1625-2008

Heating test

The temperature of the oven rises from +20C to +130C at a speed of 5C±2C, and keeps it for 1H;

[Recommend SM-G-DA series high temperature baking room +25C...+200C or sanwood other electric core oven series]
